چکیده
Vincaleukoblastine (VLB) is a compound recently isolated from Vinca rosea L i n n . Chemical studies by Gorman et al. (6) indicated that it belongs to a new class of dimeric alkaloids containing both indole and dihydroindole moieties. VLB possesses a marked leukopenic effect, due to depression of leukopoiesis (4, 10). I t has been found that this alkaloid is active against several animal tumors and is capable of inducing remission in some human neoplastic diseases (5, 7, 10). The mechanism of action of VLB is not known. Johnson et al. (8) suggested that the compound might act as an antimetabolite by interfering in the metabolic pathways of glutamic acid utilization. Palmer et al. (9) have shown that the substance causes a metaphase arrest of cells growing in tissue culture. The present ,~,~,,~ . . . . ~ deals with the studvr of the effects of Vincaleukoblastine on the mitotic activity of normal bone marrow and leukemic cells in the mouse.

متن کاملEvaluation of Apoptosis in Multipotent Hematopoietic Cells of Bone Marrow by Anthracycline Antibiotics
Anthracycline antibiotics are potent anticancer drugs widely used in the treatment of solidtumors and hematological malignancies. Because of their extensive clinical use and their toxiceffect on normal cells, in the present study the effect of these drugs on multipotent hematopoieticbone marrow cells was investigated employing, viability tests, PARP cleavage, Hoechst 33258staining, DNA fragment...

متن کاملInhibition of human bone marrow fibroblast colony formation by leukemic cells.
The number of bone marrow fibroblast colony formations decreases in most cases of acute leukemia before the initiation of chemotherapy. This study was undertaken to clarify the mechanism of suppression of fibroblast colony formation in leukemic patients. Titration of the number of bone marrow cells did not indicate a linear relationship between the number of bone marrow cells cultured and the n...
متن کاملUBE2Q1, as Down Regulated Gene in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Ubiquitin - proteasome system (UPS), the major protein degradation pathway in the cells, typically degrades short - lived and damaged proteins and regulates growth and stress responses. This pathway is altered in various cancers, including Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). ALL begins with a change in bone marrow cells and is the most common type of leukemia in children under 15 years. UBE2Q1...
